Bruce "Sonny" Fields Dougherty Jr.
Bruce "Sonny" Fields Dougherty Jr., 73, of Elkview, passed away Wednesday February 4, 2015 at CAMC Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones after a long illness.
Sonny was born on February 13, 1941 in a log cabin on Cemetery Hill in Elkview, WV. He attended Elkview High School. He worked as a custodian for the Kanawha County Board of Education for many years and retired in 1996, never having missed a day of work. He was quite the story teller and his stories will be greatly missed by his family. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Brice LeMasters Dougherty, at birth; brother, Carlton Dougherty; parents, Bruce Fields Dougherty Sr. and Evelyn LeMasters Dougherty; grandparents, Clarence and Lily Dougherty and Alva and Molly LeMasters.
He is survived by his sisters, Judy Mullins, Debra (John) Larch, and Jayne (Larry) Dougherty; brother, Don (Jeannie) Dougherty; sister-in-law, Marion Dougherty and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Hafer Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, 100 Verna Drive, Elkview, with Pastor Dean Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Hafer Funeral Home, Myers Chapel 100 Verna Drive, Elkview
