Terry Lee Hopkins
Terry Lee Hopkins, 71 of Clendenin, a loving father and grandfather, passed away peacefully , Friday, October 3, 2014 at his residence. He was born at home on July 23, 1943 in Ovapa, WV, to the late Holly and Verlena Hopkins.
In the early years of Terry's life, he was raised in Ovapa, which held a special place in his heart, until he departed this world. He often spoke of his fond memories from childhood and the summers he spent with his grandparents. Although his family moved to Dunbar, WV during his junior high and high school years his heart was always in Clay County, WV, which he considered home.
Terry had a very extensive career in construction and industrial sales and was well respected for his knowledge and expertise in these areas. His career began with Greer Brothers and Young and through the years he worked for Vecellio & Grogan, Glasgow Construction & Elmo Greer & Sons. He owned Hopkins Bit Service & Elk Valley Supply, and after years of dedication to his profession, he recently retired from Tri-State Bit & Drilling Supply. One of his notable and proud accomplishments was helping with the arduous removal of Fort Hill in the early 1970's, which allowed for passage of I-64 through Charleston, WV.
To know Terry was to have a friend. He was generous and kindhearted and took great pleasure in helping anyone in need. Terry loved his family and was proud of his children, but especially of his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Edward Hopkins; and grandchildren, Leslie Michelle Archer and Joel Patrick Archer. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Stacie Hopkins Archer and husband Wendell, of Elkview; son, Timothy Lee Hopkins of Clendenin, and grandchildren, Timothy and Matthew Hopkins and Nicole Archer.
Service will be at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Hafer Funeral Home in Elkview, WV with Pastor Lee Swor and Pastor Dan Forwood officiating.
