Barbara “Babs” Buckner
Barbara “Babs” Buckner, 79, of Pinch passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
Although most of her life she was a homemaker she also worked for State of WV Highways Department from where she retired in 1996. She graduated from Sissonville High School in 1951. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Franklin “Buck” Buckner of Pinch, and her parents Guy and Lexie Monk of Sissonville.
She is survived by her children Lisa Hamilton (Bob Hively ) of Pinch; Kevin (Cindy) Buckner of Pinch, Traci Nelson of Charleston, and Travis Buckner of Pinch. Also grandchildren, Josh Hamilton of Mill Creek, Ashley (Matt) Wehrle of Pinch, Grant Buckner of Pinch, Wyatt Buckner of Crede, and Shane Nelson of Charleston. Great Grandchild Dillon Wehrle of Pinch. Also survived by her lifelong best friend and sister Lois (George) Litfin of Sissonville and special friend and cousin Drema Young of Sissonville.
Barbara or Babs as she was called by most people enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, playing board games and cards. She loved cooking and especially baking pies. She was known throughout Pinch and surrounding areas as the best pie maker around.
Barbara’s most important role in life were the roles of mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchild unconditionally. She was always kind and caring and thoroughly enjoyed all of them.
Service will be 2:30 pm Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Swor officiating. Entombment will be in Elk Hills Memorial Mausoleum, Big Chimney.
